This was based on an actual event which took place on the banks of the Henrys Fork river in Idaho many years ago. A large group of fly fishermen were gathered around a big fire for roasting food, with three lanterns hung on long post stuck in the ground at an angle. As I was painting, I imagined some of the stories of fish caught, etc. real and otherwise. And soon the smoke from the fire started to contain fantastic elements and dreamlike figures as you can see!
