Jonathan Rose
A former architect, Jonathan paints from his studio in North Thetford with two mediums: soft pastels while working outdoors and acrylic paints when in his studio. He seeks to to keep a play of color and visible application throughout his working process, striving for an immediacy and freshness which he enjoys.
Much of Jonathan’s work is imaginary, or remembered. He paints well-used objects, small toys, stuffed animals, people and places that he knows well. Though he makes figurative and landscape paintings, that imagery is usually motivated by other ideas he is working toward: humor, hope, or, with Covid, isolation and distance.
