Working with clay has been a big part of Kira’s life since childhood. Her mother was a weaver, so watching how things are made, developed, schlepped to craft fairs and enjoyed was also a piece of her childhood world. Distracted by higher education, travel, and having a family, she is seeing now that her six year-old self may have been right: making pottery is likely her destined avocation.
Boasting numerous Lyme and Thetford connections, these days Kira lives in South Strafford, VT where she is raising two wild girls and several silly dogs. She is an unrepentant nature-nerd and her love of the outdoors is echoed in the colors, textures, and carved images on her pots. Her work is highly functional and meant for every day use. A believer in bringing beauty to common things, Kira believes life is a little bit better when you start your day with oatmeal in a handmade bowl, or if you sip your tea from a mug made individually by someone who has taken care and time in its making.
