Dierdre Dennis
Painter
Dierdre Dennis is a self-taught, regional-based painter. She began her artistic endeavor in elementary school, studying first with Marilyn Shea, where she participated in a group exhibition at age twelve. From that point, Dennis painted primarily on her own, until she met and subsequently studied with Dilys Evans, which proved pivotal and would lead to her first solo exhibition in 2001.
Dennis currently lives in Strafford, VT, but spent years growing up in Lyme. She works with acrylic on canvas and is also a pastel painter.
Her work is indicative of the natural surroundings. The subject matter is often minimal yet expressive through her use of color. Her current technique employs a heavy layering of paint which creates a dimensional quality to the work.
Dennis has taught Figure Drawing, Printmaking, Pastels and Sculpture. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout New England.
