Jennifer Brown
Red Lawn-mower, Oil on Panel
Painter
Jennifer Brown, Matt Brown’s sister, has been making art steadily since their shared childhood. Sharing an art teacher as a mother she, like Matt, has found making art an activity that in adult life has to be pursued. Jennifer currently lives in Strafford, VT, but spent years growing up in Lyme. She teaches painting (Lebanon’s AVA Gallery and elsewhere), designs puzzle and book illustrations (Norwich’s Stave Puzzles), and works predominantly in watercolor but also with oil and gouache. A mother of two adult daughters, Jennifer’s imagery focuses on the world she finds around her: the hills, farms, and houses of the Upper Valley, impressions of travels to the coast of Maine and out West, intimate portraits of people in their environments.
