Jenny Sparks (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist who recently relocated to the Upper Valley. She grew up in Maryland, and has deep roots in Providence, Rhode Island, where she learned, lived, worked, and played for 12 years. She earned a BA in Geology and BFA in Sculpture through the Brown/RISD Dual Degree Program.
You may find Jenny drawing in her sketchbooks, which she views as the heart of her artistic practice. She also makes wood-fired pottery, jewelry, drawings, paintings, and has worked on public sculptures. She fires in wood kilns throughout New England, and is a member of the New Hampshire Potters Guild. Jenny values interdisciplinary thinking, and enjoys cross-pollinating her work with all of her varied interests. She finds meaning in and brings intention to her materials and her making-processes, helping to create a more just and joyful world.
Since moving to the Upper Valley, Jenny has been learning as much as she can about the land around her. She also helped start a local Community Rewilding group, and loves to talk about native plants and ecology.
